Is LASIK painful?
No. LASIK is performed under numbing eye drops. You may feel slight pressure for a few seconds, but the procedure is essentially painless.
When should I consider cataract surgery?
When cataracts start interfering with daily activities like reading, driving, or recognizing faces. We assess vision, glare sensitivity, and overall eye health before recommending surgery.
How soon can I resume work after cataract surgery?
Most patients return to desk work within 2–3 days. However, avoid rubbing the eye, swimming, and dusty environments for at least two weeks.
Does power or number come back after LASIK surgery?
LASIK permanently reshapes the cornea, so the correction itself does not reverse. However, if your prescription was still changing at the time of surgery, or if age-related changes occur after 40, your vision may shift slightly. We ensure your power is stable for at least one year before recommending LASIK.
Can diabetic patients undergo cataract surgery?
Yes, diabetic patients can safely have cataract surgery. We require blood sugar levels to be well-controlled before the procedure. We also perform a detailed retina evaluation beforehand. With proper pre-surgical management, outcomes for diabetic patients are excellent and comparable to non-diabetic patients.
Is it safe to operate both eyes for cataract at the same time?
We operate one eye at a time, with a gap of 1–2 weeks between surgeries. This is standard practice worldwide — it allows the first eye to heal fully and lets us fine-tune the second surgery if needed. Both eyes are usually done within the same month.
What are the early warning signs of glaucoma?
Glaucoma is called the silent thief of sight because it has no pain or obvious symptoms in early stages. Gradual loss of side (peripheral) vision, blurred vision, halos around lights, and increased eye pressure are warning signs. Annual eye check-ups are the most reliable way to detect glaucoma early, before vision loss occurs.
